Snap-dragon
PATENT PENDING
Is your 3D print stuck to the build plate… again? Set your model free in a snap!
No more scraping at the base of your model with a spatula. No more spraying chemicals to try to loosen that monster hold. No more hours of re-calibrating and re-leveling your print bed because you had to remove your plate to try to remove your print. No more effort. No more wasted time. And no more damage to your precious 3D prints.
Works in a snap.
The problem of 3D prints sticking to the build plate is so persistent that nearly all 3D printers ship with a scraping tool.
Large 3D Prints Stuck? No Problem.
Separates large prints from the 3D printer bed in a snap. Yes, every time.
Easy to Use
Press Snap-dragon lightly against the base of the 3D print.
Pull the Hammer back to the second marker line.

Assembly Instructions
Only takes 5 minutes to put it together (not including curing glue).
No clamping required – although, it couldn’t hurt.
NOTE: The color of FDM filament doesn’t matter. Use whatever color you want (or have).
3D Printed Parts, Springs, Glue, Needle-nose Pliers
Aside from the 3D printed parts, you will need:
- 9/32″ x 1-1/2″ Springs (light tension)
- (Optional) 2″ rubber bands
- Gorilla Super Glue (or equivalent) – Gorilla Micro Precise Super Glue has a fine tip, making it very easy to apply
- Needle-nose Pliers (or tweezers)

TIP & TRICKS
Let the Build Plate Cool Before Using Snap-dragon
Snap-dragon is made from PLA and will warp or melt if it makes contact with a hot build plate. Let the plate cool for a few minutes before using.
Multi-Snapping
If you have a particularly large 3D print, or the build plate adhesion is quite strong (as with the use of Aqua Net Extra Super Hold Professional hairspray as a binder), it may require multiple “snaps” to remove the print.
Work your way around the model, snapping at all sides until the print comes off.
DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME…
Here’s an example of a 3D print build plate surface that ripped off because the adhesion of the 3D model was intentionally enhanced beyond the adhesive properties of the build plate surface layer.
The good news is, the model came off.
Rubber Bands, Instead of Springs
Rubber bands work well if you can’t obtain the proper springs. Use rubber bands that are about 2-inch, or use longer rubber bands and tie them off so they are about 2-inches.
Good luck finding a retailer that will sell you just two rubber bands! Most likely you’ll need to purchase a whole box. But rubber bands are fairly inexpensive, and you can probably find another use for the extra 998.
